About This Species
The African Moony is a beautiful, diamond-shaped fish known for its silvery body and striking vertical black stripes. These active swimmers are a joy to watch as they gracefully navigate the middle and upper levels of the aquarium. They are social creatures and must be kept in groups of five or more; a lone Moony will become stressed and shy. Keeping them is a bit different from typical freshwater fish because they require 'brackish' water, which is a mix of freshwater and saltwater. Think of the water found where a river meets the ocean.
