The Tangerine Tiger Shrimp is a beautiful, brightly colored crustacean that makes a stunning addition to a freshwater aquarium. Famous for its vibrant orange stripes, it belongs to the Caridina family, which means it has some specific care needs that make it a great choice for keepers with a little experience. These shrimp are excellent cleaners, constantly grazing on algae, leftover fish food, and the natural microscopic film that grows on tank surfaces. This not only keeps your tank looking tidy but provides them with a constant food source. They are peaceful and shy, so they should be kept in a group of at least six to feel safe and active. When comfortable, you'll see them exploring all over the bottom of the tank, from the substrate to plants and decorations. They prefer a dedicated 'shrimp-only' tank, as they are very small and can be seen as food by many types of fish. A stable, clean environment with cooler water is the key to their health. While they can be a bit more sensitive than the common cherry shrimp, seeing a thriving colony of these colorful creatures is incredibly rewarding.
